- PROMETHEUS
As momentum builds for Ridley Scott's Prometheus,writer-producer Damon Lindelof has decided to share some insight on what toexpect from this upcoming quasi-Alien prequel-thing.
MTV sat down with the former Lost executive producer to getthe latest scoop on what's in store. In regards to cast member MichaelFassbender (X-Men: First Class), Lindelof said that they're taking a differentapproach to the android subset in Prometheus.
"He plays a robot," Lindelof said. "One ofthe things that evokes the idea of Blade Runner is, 'What does the movie looklike from the robot's point of view?' If you were to ask him, 'What do youthink about all of this? What's going on? What do you think about these humanswho are around you?,' wouldn't it be cool if we found a way for that robot toanswer those questions. When you cast a guy like Fassbender, who's going tobring a lot more to it... it's not Anthony Daniels. All due respect. He'sphenomenal. But C-P3O..."

"I think one of the really cool things about the firstAlien, if you watch it cold, Ripley is kind in the background like one of thecrew members... and suddenly Sigourney Weaver, in the last 40 minutes of themovie, is the only one left alive. I think the idea of building a really coolensemble and again presenting the audience with like, 'Who's going to be leftstanding at the end of this movie?' Maybe all of them. Probably not."
The official synopsis recently released describes Prometheusas a "groundbreaking mythology in which a team of explorers discover aclue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey tothe darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battleto save the future of the human race."
Prometheus is currently slated for a June 2012 release. Staytuned for more details as they come.
