Universal Pictures is set to develop The Best Man 2,Deadline reports, twelve years after the original hit theaters.

Written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, the 1999 filmstarred Taye Diggs as Harper Stewart, a novelist whose autobiographical workhas its release unfortunately timed with the wedding of his best friend, LanceSullivan (Morris Chestnut), as the book reveals a secret relationship he oncehad with the bride-to-be.

Lee will again write, direct and produce with the originalcast (which also included Nia Long, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan and HaroldPerrineu) expected to return, though no official negotiations have begun.
