Lionsgate is pleased to announce the start of production onKim Jee-Woon's The Last Stand, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Johnny Knoxville joins Last Stand

 

The shoot, has officially begun, will take place acrosslocations in New Mexico and Nevada.

 

Rounding out the cast are Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker,Luis Guzman, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Jaimie Alexander, EduardoNoriega, Peter Stormare and Harry Dean Stanton.  

 

Korean action-suspense master Kim Jee-Woon is directing thefilm, which is based on a spec script by Andrew Knauer that was subsequentlyrewritten by Jeffrey Nachmanoff.

 

Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who hasresigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepyborder town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungledoperation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner wascrippled. 

After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, themost notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward theborder at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce armyof gang members.  He is headed, it turnsout, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. lawenforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept himbefore he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because ofthe perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately acceptsresponsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.
