Variety reports that Don Johnson has been cast in QuentinTarantino's Django Unchained. The former "Miami Vice" star will bejoining Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx (who played Ricardo Tubbs in the MiamiVice movie), Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, DennisChristopher, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette and M.C. Gainey in the December 25,2012 release.

In the film, Django (Foxx) is a freed slave, who under thetutelage of a German bounty hunter (Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunterhimself. After assisting Waltz on taking down some bad guys for profit, he isin turn assisted by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating herfrom an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio).

Johnson will play a plantation owner named Spencer Bennett.

Filming is set to start in November. The Weinstein Companywill distribute domestically and Sony Pictures overseas.
