Anne Hathaway (upcoming The Dark Knight Rises) is joiningRussell Crowe and Hugh Jackman in director Tom Hooper's Les Misérables atUniversal Pictures and Working Title Films.
In the film, based on the classic novel and stage play,Hathaway will play the role of Fantine opposite Crowe's Inspector Javert andJackman's Jean Valjean.
William Nicholson (Gladiator) has written the screenplay.Sir Cameron Mackintosh will produce alongside Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and DebraHayward for Working Title. Vice President of Production Erik Baiers isoverseeing for Universal with Director of Development Maradith Frenkel.
The music is by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.
Les Misérables is scheduled to hit theaters on December 7,2012.
