FAST 6 & 7 (In Development)

  • FAST 6 & 7

With Fast Five (AKA Fast & Furious 5: Rio Heist) having muscled its way tofinancial success, you can’t blame Universal for shoving the pedal down on thenext installment just as soon as physically possible. And with director JustinLin avoiding most other possible projects to start preparing to work on thefilm, it would seem the studio is looking to capitalize on his loyalty andavailability, plus locking down the cast’s services by considering cranking outthe sixth and seventh franchise entries back to back.
According tothe LA Times, while nothing is set yet, the studio has writer Chris Morgancoming up with ideas for a story that would connect across two movies, with Lintaking the Back To The Future/Lord OfThe Rings/Matrix sequelsmodel and film them simultaneously.
Though thecurrently untitled sixth outing is even now penciled in for a May 2013 release, that date could always be changed if more time is needed for the extendedshoot.
Back to backsequel shooting appears to be back in fashion at the moment – Peter Jackson’sat work on two Hobbit films andjust last week it emerged that Paramount was pondering the idea of making twonew Transformers outings atonce.
Jason Statham might be Joining Fast 6
Here is also someinteresting speculation; Jason Statham as you should know is in talks withUniversal to join Fast 6 and Fast 7. Talks are still in very early stages andnothing as been set in stone as yet, However when the Transporter star wasquestioned about him possibly joining the Transformers, he did say that he willnot be joining the franchise anytime soon even though it looks interesting. This just makes us wonder could it be that Jason Statham is closer to joiningVin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese and The Rock in Fast 6 than we actually think??
Because the shootwill basically have him unavailable from 7-9months…

Let us know whatyou think…
