RISE OF THE PLANET APES (Sequel Development)

  • PLANET OF THE APESRISES AGAIN, AGAIN 2.

It looks like director Rupert Wyatt will not be moving fullsteam ahead on Londongrad, which had been his next planned project. WarnerBros. has now put the project on hold so that Wyatt can first tackle a sequelto his previous film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

According to Deadline, the studio put Londongrad on the fasttrack for Wyatt to direct with hot-ticket Michael Fassbender set to star as theformer KGB spy Alexander Litvinenko, who died of polonium-210 poisoning in2006. However, Wyatt will now be returning to the Apes franchise instead foranother go at Caesar and friends.

Nevertheless, producer Graham King (Hugo, The Departed)claims that he will likely wait for Wyatt to make Londongrad, even at theexpense of Fassbender.

"[Rupert] came to us and Warners," King said in aninterview with The Playlist, "and said 'I love this script, and I'd loveto make this, but [Apes] is what I'm doing now.' And we were like, fine. He's agreat filmmaker, and I really hope I get to work with him."
