Xerxes - 300: Battle of Artemisia

It's been a few months since word broke that Noam Murro(Smart People) would be helming the 300 quasi-sequel, 300: Battle of Artemisia.producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari spoke about the project at the junketfor their latest, Immortals.

"We have to say that Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, hiswriting partner, have killed it," said Canton of the screenplay."They've done a tremendous job making a highly intelligent, epic storythat will stand on its own. But it's not a conventional sequel and, for what wedo, that's what you hope and pray for. That you can be original and authenticat the same time."

There's no announced timeline for the project as of yet, butNunnari says that it's now officially "a work in progress... as opposed toa year ago where it was just something we wanted to do."

As for the rumors of a potential Gerard Butler cameo (asFrank Miller has said that Leonidas appears in his graphic novel, Xerxes, ofwhich the film is somewhat based), Canton played it coy.
