Director David Fincher (Social Network & The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is reportedly "circling"Sony Pictures' epic Cleopatra, which has Angelina Jolie attached to play thetitle role.

Variety says Cleopatra will reunite Fincher with his SocialNetwork producer Scott Rudin and his Curious Case of Benjamin Buttonscreenwriter Eric Roth, who is poised to succeed Brian Helgeland in adaptingStacy Schiff's book Cleopatra: A Life. Should he close a deal, Roth is expectedto start scripting within the next few weeks.

The trade adds it's now uncertain whether Cleopatra will beshot in 3D, which at one point was going to be the case.
