"I never went after a big franchise," Renner saidof his upcoming four-in-a-row. "I never went after a big action movie. They just sort of kind of manifested in a way... When asked about the similarities between some of hisupcoming roles, Renner explained that each is very different on a characterlevel.
"It was kind of impossible for me to say no [to thesefilms]," he added, "as long as there was stuff for me to docharacter-wise, selfishly, it's just a bigger setting. A bigger stage."
Already featured in a brief cameo in this past summer'sThor, Renner will soon wield Clint Barton's bow in a more significant capacitycome May 6, 2012.
"[I] was blessed to be a part of [the Marvel]universe," he continued, "because I love what Marvel did withsomething so fantastical and unrealistic, making it kind of plausible, likewhen they did "Iron Man". I just thought those were really greatmovies, the first one in particular... The character of Hawkeye was always cool. He's kind of a rogue, shadowy character. That's what attracted me to him. Thenhe's also a human being. He just has a high skill set, so they call him asuperhero."
While all four blockbuster films are potential franchises,Renner still teased that he's going to be taking a break from the genre.
"You're not going to see me do another action movie fora while," he smiled.
