- THE AVENGERS TUNING INTO CAPTAIN AMERICA
Alan Silvestri is now officially announced as the composerfor Marvel's The Avengers. Marvel.com posted the news today, welcomingSilvestri back to their cinematic universe.
"I think to have been a part of the Marvel process isvery helpful," says Silvestri, who previously scored Captain America: TheFirst Avenger. "To see how material evolves [and] how the film evolvesgives the sense of how Marvel treats their characters, cares for them, and abit of what that Marvel post-production process feels like."
The key challenge for Silvestri this time around is to move fromone big screen hero to a whole team, representing the entire cast musically.
"This is actually a very unique experience [forme]," he continues. "I've worked on films where there have been anumber of stars and certainly worked on films where there have been charactersof equal weight in terms of their level of importance and profile in the film, but this one is somewhat extreme in that regard because each of thesecharacters has their own world and it's a very different situation... It's verychallenging to look for a way to give everyone the weight and considerationthey need, but at the same time the film is really about the coming together ofthese characters, which implies that there is this entity called the Avengerswhich really has to be representative of all of them together."
Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in IronMan, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The FirstAvenger, Marvel's The Avengers has the world's greatest Super Heroes assemblingto pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemythreatens global security.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon, the film stars RobertDowney Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson,Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan SkarsgÄrd and Samuel L. Jackson. Itopens in theaters on May 4, 2012.
