Last month, Disney announced that Mark Romanek and AlineBrosh McKenna were heading up a revamped take on the classic Cinderella story.Now, Universal is playing catch-up by revealing a writer and director for theirown version of the tale.  (Another SnowWhite saga!!)

Variety reports that Ann Peacock (The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) will be tackling the script, with newbiedirector Bruno Aveillan helming the project. Peacock will be rewriting an olderdraft that was originally penned by Michael Dougherty (Trick 'r Treat). Detailson the project are slim, but it's probably safe to assume that glass slippersand pumpkin carriages will be making an appearance.

In addition to Cinderella, the studios have been jumping onall sorts of other public domain fairytales with upcoming projects like Hansel& Gretel: Witch Hunters, Jack the Giant Killer, and five separate Peter Panprojects.
