Kristen Wiig looks likely to play the female lead in 20thCentury Fox's upcoming remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The HollywoodReporter has the story, saying that the Bridesmaids star is currently innegotiations.

The film, which will both star and be directed by BenStiller (his first directorial project since 2008's Tropic Thunder), is aremake of a 1947 film that featured Danny Kaye in the lead. That film was, inturn, based on the James Thurber short story first published in The New Yorkerin 1939.

In the story, a henpecked husband (Stiller) copes with thefrustrations of his dull life by imagining he is a fearless airplane pilot, abrilliant doctor, and more. Wiig would play a co-worker to Mitty and also analternate version of that character in the fantasy sequences.
