Even though the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has gotten andincredible amount of praise from critics and even fans, its box officeperformance is stellar to say the least.

Now fans and some pundits in the industry are all wonderingwill Sony go ahead with the sequels to this franchise.

Entertainment Weekly learned from an unnamed Sony rep that"development continues" on the sequel. "[Dragon Tattoo]continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect todevelopment of the next book," said EW's source.

Steven Zaillian is reportedly still working on thescreenplay adaptation of The Girl Who Played with Fire, the second installmentin Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy about hacker Lisbeth Salander andcrusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist. The third book is The Girl Who Kickedthe Hornet's Nest.

Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are contractually obligated toreprise their roles as Lisbeth and Mikael, respectively. Director Fincher,however, is not signed for sequels.
