PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 (Update)

  • PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

A script for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 was completedbefore Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides even hit theaters. That filmwas a box office success, but critics hammered it and the general consensus wasthat fasn of the series wasn’t too happy with the final film either.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer called for rewrites on thefifth film, saying the script wasn’t good enough. It would also seem thatpeople don’t want Rob Marshall to direct the next film it does happen.
Now Marshall is the one offering an update on thefifth film, suggesting he’ll be the one who eventually directs it.
Hollywood report got his quote and here it is:
“Terry [Rossio] is writing it and he’s workingincredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working onit again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to seean exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s noreason to do it. I know Johnny feels the same way: He needs to see a script, but he would be happy — if it’s the right script — to put that hat and swordback on.”
That’s a plus, On Stranger Tides wasn’t a total trainsmash but it could have been much better, atleast they making sure the fifthinstallment is worth our time.
