SKYFALL (Craig Speaks)

  • SKYFALL

Quantum ofSolace wasn’t really a bad film, but where Casino Royale was a very eleganttasteful take on Bond, Quantum of Solace came out to be more of a action moviethen a real Bond film. Daniel Craig, Bond himself has stated that they had tocompromise the script because of the 2008 writers' strike. He then promises audiences that Skyfall will bebetter.
Daniel Craig on Set
"On Quantum, we were f*cked," saysCraig, succinctly. "We had the bare bones of a script and then there wasthe strike and there was nothing we could do. We couldn't employ a writer tofinish it. You swear you'll never get involved with shit like that, and then ithappens!" Craig even reveals that he ended up writing some of the sceneshimself, in collaboration with director Marc Forster. "And a writer I amnot..."
Skyfall's to put asidethe Quantum plot thread that ran through it, as well as the previous film, Casino Royale, now makes more sense inthe light of Craig's admitting "[Quantum]was never meant to be as much of a sequel as it was; it just ended up beingone, starting where the last one finished. For me personally, on a level offeeling satisfied, I would want to do better next time. That’s really importantto me."
But if hewas disappointed in his second Bond outing, he seems excited about his third." I really think this one is better even than Casino Royale", Craig enthuses."[Director] Sam Mendes has lived with Bond all his life, and he grew upwith Bond in the same way I did. We have exactly the same reference points, weboth like the same Bond movies, and we both like the same bits in the same Bondmovies we like. We sat down and we just rabbited for hours about Live And Let Die or From Russia With Love, and talkedabout little scenes that we knew from them. That’s how we started talking aboutit. That’s what we tried to instill in the script. He’s been working his arseoff to tie all these things together so they make sense... in a Bond way!"
Skyfall is currentlyshooting. But you can see Craig on-screen in David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, whichwill come out in the States on 20th of December and the 6thof January in South Africa.
