Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen is currently in talks to playthe antagonistic Monsieur Thenardier in Tom Hooper's musical feature adaptationof Les Mierables, starring Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.
Matt Lucas, who is playing Thenardier in the musical'sproduction on the West End, tweeted the news yesterday while expressing hisenthusiasm for Cohen's involvement. However, Deadline speculates that Cohen isstill just in negotiations and has yet to be definitely confirmed for the part.
The comedy actor has time and again showcased his theatricalflair in feature films like Sweeney Todd and Martin Scorsese's Hugo. ShouldCohen accept the role in Les Miz, he would have to have a spot cleared forfilming at the start of next year.
