ENTOURAGE (Possibility)

  • ENTOURAGE

The cast and producers of Entourage gathered to discuss the end of the HBO series today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today. With production on the series over and the final episodes now airing, the panel was asked if the long-discussed Entourage movie might happen.

Said Entourage executive producer Mark Wahlberg, "I said if I had to finance it myself, I'd do it." Referencing the clip reel that introduced the panel, Wahlberg remarked, "I was looking at that clip on the big screen and it looks like a movie to me," joking that whenever HBO cuts together a trailer, "It's the f**king greatest thing you've ever seen."

Wahlberg added, "I certainly hope this has a chance to become a feature film. People have always complained the episodes are too short and they want to go on a journey with these guys." Wahlberg said he felt The Hangover reminded him of Entourage and noted the success of R-rated comedies this year - as a good sign as to how an Entourage film could perform.

Both Wahlberg and series creator Doug Ellin said they felt the ratings for Entourage didn't measure the full audience and that they knew of large groups of young men who watch it together.

Said Ellin, "We're going to do a movie. We're going to do it. It's just a question of when and how quick. Hopefully we'll sit down and come up with an idea and make it happen."

R.I.P.D. (Cast News)

Kevin Bacon in X-Men: First Class
Kevin Bacon looks to be joining the cast of Universal Pictures' supernatural action film R.I.P.D. (short for "Rest In Peace Department").

The project, based on Peter Lenkov's Dark Horse comic about a police department of the dead, will be directed by Robert Schwentke (RED) and will feature the team-up of Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are writing the screenplay with Mike Richardson, founder and President of Dark Horse, producing alongside Lawrence Gordon and Neal Moritz.

Bacon's most recent appearance was also as a comic book villain, playing the part of Sebastian Shaw earlier this year in X-Men: First Class.

R.I.P.D. is scheduled to begin production soon, planning a June 28, 2012 release.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2 (Possibility)

  • X-MEN FIRST CLASS

IGN caught up with actress Rose Byrne this week and briefly chatted with her about the future of her role as Moira MacTaggert in the rebooted X-Men film series:

Rose Byrne
Here is what she had to say…

Yeah, we all had to sign on for three, I believe. Well, I did anyway. But as of right now I have no idea if they're planning on doing another one. But that was the idea depending on how it all went, I suppose. We'll see though. I loved working on it and loved working with the cast. I loved Matthew Vaughn. I also loved the style, the era and the fashion. And it was kind of kitsch-y and funny. It was a really fun and sophisticated superhero movie. I'm very proud of the film. “

X-Men: First Class will be coming to DVD pretty soon.

THOR 2 (Chris Hemsworth Speaks)

  • THOR 2

Thor star Chris Hemsworth has been discussing the departure of Kenneth Branagh from the Thor franchise, saying that he is sad to see the director leave.

"I'm really disappointed" the star told the LA Times. "Ken built that character and everything I know about the Thor world I learned while shoulder-to-shoulder with Ken. I learned so much from him.

"The start of anything creative is the most important period in a way. That's when the most can go wrong, and Ken made sure we got it right."

Branagh decided to pass on the superhero sequel so that he could concentrate TV and theatre commitments, with Marvel now looking for an alternate choice to steer the franchise.

We can just hope and pray that Marvel chose’s somebody that will respect and keep the elements that Bragnah brought us and then just build on that. Only then will Thor 2 be able to stand a chance and be good or even better then the first film.

AVENGERS (Hulk-Talk)

  • THE HULK WE KNOW AND DON'T
Now that we know what the Hulk will look like in The Avengers movie, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is talking about the creative decisions behind the character's new design -- his third in as many films.

Hero Complex spoke to Feige about the new look,

"It will be as different as The Incredible Hulk [movie] was from Ang Lee's Hulk in terms of its look and design, but it is Hulk," says Feige. "Hulk is Hulk. We're not going to reinvent the wheel."

And yet, this Hulk will share a resemblance to Mark Ruffalo, the actor who is playing his alter ego Bruce Banner.

"The most important thing is that face," he says. "As you can already see in that concept painting, it is -- more than any Hulk that's ever been done in live action -- a Hulk that lets you see the actor in there. You will be able to see Ruffalo in there. That was a big revelation for us. It's just a concept painting, but in that you can see the [influence of Marvel Comics pioneer and original Hulk artist Jack] Kirby, as people have already pointed out, but also, and equally important in this case, Ruffalo's eyes and his cheek structure. It is him."

Feige adds that on the previous films, this was something they avoided -- the thinking was Hulk is "not any one actor" and should just look like Hulk. But the filmmakers came to question this approach.

"We did a few designs that put Ruffalo into it, and we immediately saw how much more you feel for the creature," he says. "When you keep that connection going between Banner and the Hulk and you have characters around him trying to reach Banner inside -- "Bruce, calm down," and all of that classic Hulk stuff -- it means more if you see the same actor throughout."

FIRE AND ICE (Announced)

  • FIRE AND ICE

Robert Rodriguez announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that he's teamed with the estate of fantasy artist Frank Frazetta for a live-action take on Fire and Ice, inspired by the artist's legendary work and the previous 1983 animated version. This could turn out to be something quite unique whenever it plans on invading the Silver screen.

Rodriguez told Entertainment Weekly that he wants "it to look like you just stepped into one of his paintings, where you get to see his world, and how he saw people, anatomy, and composition and color. It will feel like it's real, but not real. It'll be his reality. He saw things differently. He painted from his imagination. He didn't take a photograph and just paint it."

The films plot, “From his stronghold in Ice Peak, the evil Nekron sends forth a wave of deadly glaciers, forcing humanity to retreat to Fire Keep, a kingdom ruled by a generous king. When King Jarol's daughter Teegra is kidnapped, young warrior Larn teams with the mysterious and legendary Dark Wolf, to rescue the princess and the realm from Nekron’s evil sorcery.”
